Shares Recovery

In case of loss of original Share Certificate, one has to apply to the RTA/Company for the issue of duplicate Share Certificate.

There lies a misconception in case of Transfer of Shares and Transmission of Shares.

The Transfer of Shares is a voluntary act by the investor and takes place by way of contract whereas, the Transmission of Shares takes places due to operation of law arise upon the death of the original shareholder.

If a company changes its name, it allots new Share Certificate under its new/changed name and the original Share Certificate has to be surrendered to the company in lieu to apply for the new Share Certificate of the changed name.

In such cases company allots new share of the merged Company in the ratio decided at the time of merger and hence, investors needs to apply to the RTA/Company for new Share Certificate and the old Share Certificate has to be submitted to the company.
